Damien Wilson
Community Learning Project Manager
Damien joined the Vital Regeneration team in October 2009 and manages the Community Learning Programme which delivers innovative programmes to children and adults. Two of the main projects are Play Space and Homework Clubs which use creative teaching methods to provide healthy living and homework support to young people aged 7-12. His role is to bring together partners, families, children and adults to create positive learning environments.
Working with adults in Vital Regeneration's two digital learning centres, Queens Park New Media Centre (QPNMC) and Firststep (based at The Greenside Community Centre), Damien coordinates the Open Access programmes which encourage adults to take part in a range of projects and courses to help further their careers and gain confidence and knowledge using IT.
Damien studied Geography at King’s College London and has worked in the voluntary sector for almost 10 years. He previously worked for youth charity, Changemakers, developing a virtual volunteering project. More recently he has worked as a freelance consultant.
Damien has volunteered for a number of charities, including the Back Up Trust and YouthNet, where he was an online peer adviser, providing relationships advice to young people aged 16-25.
