Changing lives with Access IT
Nazmin Begum, 32 lives in one of the most deprived wards in Westminster and found out about our work through flyers posted around the local area.
As a wheelchair user Nazmin has struggled to find free, accessible computer courses that would meet her needs as a long term job seeker. She has used computers before but wanted to learn more to enhance her job prospects, especially programs such as Photoshop, which she has on her home computer but doesn’t know how to use. When she found out about the free ‘Beginners Digital Media’ course, as a client of Vital Regeneration's Westminster Works, she was very excited.
Nazmin said she really enjoyed the course, particularly learning how to use computers in ways she didn’t think were possible. She especially enjoyed scanning photos and exploring the setting and filters on Photoshop.
At the end of the course Nazmin said, “I feel much more confident because I now understand how to use some of the basic tools on Photoshop as well as more general computer skills – such as learning how to create folders and change settings on Windows 7”.
Nazmin now uses Photoshop at home to edit her pictures and is even showing other family members how to use it. She feels much more confident about her prospects of finding a job in the future.
