Peter's Story

When Peter started the Create+ programme, he had below average attendance at school and his teachers and Connexions Personal Adviser described his behaviour as disruptive and disengaged.  Through Create+, Peter gained a range of skills and was extremely proud to achieve his first ever qualification - a Level 1 Arts Award.

“Their passion and enthusiasm is infectious and even the most withdrawn or surly students have been brought out of their shells in working with the team.  I am always happy when I go to observe in one of their lessons and see not just great focus but also hear so much laughter!” Charli Faux, Aspire Pastoral Manager, Quintin Kynaston School

Create+ then supported  Peter to apply for work experience at Old Ford Housing in Tower Hamlets, where he worked with the community engagement team providing activities for 8 – 12 year olds.  Peter now attends school on a regular basis.  Feedback from his teachers has been that his attitude to learning is much improved, thanks to Momentum.  Peter has decided that when he finishes school he’d like to work with young people and media.

“CREATE+ is wicked because they know their stuff and also they don’t talk down to you.  They ain’t like teachers, they just get it and they have a laugh and they make it fun to learn”.
