Dorita
Dorita and her husband, Joao, were directed to the Homeless Employability and Learning Project (HELP) by the Way To Go Project Manager at the Council’s Housing Options Service.
“As we needed help an appointment was arranged for my husband and myself to meet the HELP Adviser,” says Dorita. “First of all, the Adviser helped me to identify my goals and we created an action plan together, she also supported me with preparation for the interview.”
The Adviser also assisted Dorita in finding an NVQ Level 3 course in Child Care and Development (CACHE), which funded by the project and run by Westminster Adult Education Service.
“I have also received advice about financial help that I could be eligible to apply for and I was given links to information and services that have provided me with more opportunities to achieve my goals,” explains Dorita.
She speaks highly of the quality of the support that she has received from HELP. “The best thing about the project is that the Adviser continues to work with you and provides mentoring support,” Dorita thinks. “They don’t just leave you high and dry once you have left and the after-care they provide is absolutely brilliant! Great attention is paid to putting in place support to help you explore these ideas making you feel confident. I am overjoyed. Thank you to the HELP Adviser as I have been able to achieve my goal.”
