Joao is concerned that his current job is not appropriate for his health.  He is working the with the HELP Adviser to consider different employment options and look for opportunities that would suit him better.

Joao is supportive of his wife’s aspiration to gain her qualification but inevitably, there are costs involved.  “We have applied for the Discretionary Housing Payment through HELP and this has helped us towards paying the fees by way of part payment towards our rent,” explains Joao.

“The HELP Adviser is still trying to help us as we will incur expenses towards my wife's course in NVQ Level 3, this fee of £127 will now be met through the Beneficiary Fund within the project,” he adds.

It can be difficult to negotiate the barriers to make such changes and achieve progress but Joao is undeterred, knowing that Dorita and himself are able to seek advice from HELP.  “Many thanks for all the help and support offered to us,” he says.
