Karina, 17
Karina first came to the Apprenticeships Advice Service in August 2009; she had just finished her AS-levels at college but had decided she didn’t want to continue studying in a college environment. She had previously completed her school work experience at a local Hospital and had enjoyed undertaking admininstrative tasks and being in a working environment. Based on this, Karina decided she wanted to do an Apprenticeship in Business Admin as this would enable her to build up her work experience, earn and continue gaining qualifications but in a different environment from college.
She wasn’t sure where to look for apprenticeships and wanted some assistance. She decided to contact the Apprenticeships Advice Service where she received support from her Apprenticeships Adviser with applications to a number of vacancies with Housing Associations and Local Authorities, as well as practice with her interview technique. She has since managed to gain a position on a Business Admin Apprenticeship with Brent Council in their housing department. We wish her the best of luck with her new career!
Karina wanted to say a few words about the service she received below:
“I found out about Vital Regeneration in August, whilst trying to look for an apprenticeship. I emailed them asking for advice, and within the next day an appointment was arranged. I made regular visits to The Greenside Community Centre, during these visits I was given help on the following; my CV, covering letter, interview tips and was also given a practice interview. I was also alerted to any apprenticeships which were on offer via email. Vital Regeneration helped me so much as they pointed me in the right direction, and helped to build up my confidence.”
