Kieran's self-produced film, created through FreqOUT! is a contender in the Firstlight 2010 awards
Kieran joined the FreqOUT! project in November 2008 as part of a Firstlight funded film project. FreqOUT! first met Kieran through Centrepoint; he was one of their hostel residents and it was during his stay there, that he enrolled on the project with Vital Regeneration. Kieran quickly got to grips with the film equipment and worked alongside his peers at the hostel to make his first film, with the support of the FreqOUT! associate artist team, comissioned through arts collective MediaShed. The group explored the potential of wireless cameras to make short films in their local area, Soho. Kieran very soon became an active member of the group, attending regularly to make his own short films. Kieran's film, produced with friends at Centrepoint, was screened at the 2009 FreqOUT! Showcase at the London Coliseum in partnership with ENO Bayliss.
The FreqOUT! team actively sought progression opportunities for the group and in his own time, Kieran auditioned to become a runner on a short, low budget film, produced by an East London Film company. Completing the runner position coupled with his time on the FreqOUT! film project, encouraged Kieran to reach higher with his acting career. After completing the FreqOUT! project, Kieran went on to star in a Westminster City Council production based on sexual health for teenagers in the borough. The FreqOUT! Project Manager then put Kieran in touch with one of their partner organisations WAC who were running a longer term media project. Kieran successfully completed the project with WAC and has since gone on to join the National Youth Theatre and has recently enrolled on a media course at Morley College, a place jointly funded by Vital Regeneration and WAC.
Kieran's self-produced film, made as part of his FreqOUT! project, has been chosen as a contender in the Firstlight 2010 awards and will be screened at the Odeon Leicester Square on the 2nd of March. You can watch Kieran's film on the Firstlight website.
