Max, 14, gained his first accredited qualifications with support from the Studio+ programme

Max, 14, lives in a local Westminster Estate and joined the Studio+ music production programme in September 2009.  His Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder had gotten him into some difficult situations with peers from previous schools and he moved schools several times, significantly decreasing his enthusiasm to complete his GCSEs and to learn in general.

Max’s mother heard about the Studio+ music production project at a community event in August 2009 and Max subsequently joined the project the following September.  His attendance to Tuesday’s Studio+ Show Case music production sessions was excellent; he was one of the most committed participants.  He quickly learnt how to use the Logic software to create tracks in the genre of his favourite band, Pendulum.  Click HERE to listen to Max's tracks.

Max completed the Bronze Arts Award portfolio and sat the Level 1 Adult Literacy test, successfully passing both and thereby gaining his first accredited qualifications.  Due to his hard work and commitment to the course, Max was awarded a certificate for "Outstanding Achievement & Commitment’ at the Annual Vital Regeneration Awards Ceremony.  This award came at a time when Max was in between schools, his mother said that receiving the award, along with his qualification certificates, had a significant impact on his morale and self-confidence.  Within a few weeks he was enrolled at a new school.

Max described the music production course as “awesomely awesome”.
