Vertex has supported Vital Regeneration’s FreqOUT! project through continued sponsorship, staff volunteering and technical guidance.  Vertex sponsored ‘Emotional Mapping’ workshops for young people from the Fourth Feathers Youth Club and Marylebone Bangladeshi Society, in a project led by artist, Christian Nold.

Workshop participants used a specially designed Bio Mapping tool to record their Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) as they walked around their local area.  GSR is an indicator of emotional state.  When combined with geographical location data, this was used to plot a map, highlighting points of high and low bodily activity across a geographical area.  The resulting maps visualised those locations that created stressed or excited responses.  The maps were then used to stimulate discussions which engaged the young people in exploring their relationship to their local area.
