Active Graphics Club on Shackleton Expedition!
Soho Parish Primary School’s Active Graphics Club visited the launch of a brand new range of clothing, shoes and accessories made by Timberland Boot Company. The range was specially designed to commemorate the Discovery Expedition by Ernest Shackleton to the Antarctic in 1901.
The Regent Street store built a room of 60cm thick ice, equipped with a snow and wind machine. Customers were able to experience the extreme weather conditions on an expedition similar to Shackleton’s. Products were frozen within the ice cubes, to show that they are especially engineered to work below freezing. A watch was so resistant to freezing conditions that it kept perfect time at -60°C.
Each member of Soho Parish School’s Active Graphics Club had the opportunity to try on a special extreme weather jacket and go inside the ice room accompanied by some intrepid explorers! Each child then had his or her photo taken on a blue screen, which was then superimposed onto a picture of a glacier. All the children were given their photos to take home. Justin and Sheng-Hei, were especially rewarded for their excellent commitment to the project throughout the term, each winning a brand new Timberland winter coat.
