Bevan Brittan ‘Give and Gain’ to revamp Community Centre

As part of Give and Gain Day on 18th May, Vital Regeneration partnered up with law firm, Bevan Brittan, to give the Greenside Community Centre in Westminster a much needed make over in time for the local Jubilee Celebrations on 7th June.

Andrew Tobin, Corporate Responsibility Partner at Bevan Brittan, said;

“We were delighted to give The Greenside Community Centre a make-over for Give and Gain Day 2012.  The Centre is a fantastic resource for the local community and our team was thrilled to be involved with such a worthwhile project.  Bevan Brittan is committed to corporate responsibility which is something our clients and our employees feel strongly about.  We actively promote a culture that enables our people to give something back to the communities in which we operate and the environment around us.”

The 10 Bevan Brittan staff members helped to make up record number of 10,071 UK employees, who volunteered their time for the day to support local charities like Vital Regeneration.  Over 500 projects across the UK, including the Greenside Community Centre, benefited from Give and Gain Day.

Emma Rembalski, Vital Regeneration’s Corporate Partnerships Manager said;
“We were delighted to have the help of the Bevan Brittan staff, everyone who gave up their time should feel really proud of the great job they have done and the difference they have made to the centre.  On behalf of the local community, we would like to thank you for your support”.

The Greenside Community Centre, managed by Westminster based charity Vital Regeneration, is very well used by the community.  Throughout the year, local people, living in neighbourhoods rated amongst the most disadvantaged in the UK, access an impressive calendar of opportunities and events, from seasonal and festive cross cultural celebrations, to IT courses, over 50’s dance classes, to sustainable awareness and social change activities.

The Bevan Brittan staff arrived early and spent the morning prepping the hall.  They worked solidly through the day, adding the first coat of fresh paint at lunchtime and working shifts to ensure the hall was double coated and gleaming by the end of the day.

The next big event being organised by Vital Regeneration at Greenside is a Jubilee Party on June 7th, where the charity will be putting on a 'Jubilee Afternoon-Tea', creative activities, live music and even a mobile farm.
