Church Street Spring Carnival Week

21st – 25th February

Over the upcoming half term; 21st – 25th February, Vital Regeneration are organising an exciting series of events that culminate in the Church Street Spring Carnival and Parade on Friday 25th February.  These events take place at Derry Hall, Fisherton Hall and Greenside Community Centre all within the local Church Street area.  There is something for everyone to get involved in, here’s the list of activities:
 
Help make Carnival Decorations
Monday 21st February, 6 – 8pm, Derry Hall, Free and for all ages
A drop-in workshop to create all of the decorations that will adorn and enhance our carnival – we will be creating banners and flags and other brightly coloured items.
 
Carnival Storytelling
Tuesday 22nd February, 2-4pm, Fisherton Hall, for ages 5 -8, tickets 50p only
Carnival Storytelling workshop for children aged 5 – 8.  Fire up your imagination and take part a carnival-themed story using props that will transport you to different times and other lands.
 
Carnival Songwriting
Wednesday 23rd February, 10-12pm, Derry Hall, for ages 5-8, tickets 50p only
Carnival Songwriting workshop for children aged 5 – 8.  Get creative with samba and Caribbean music and be part of writing a song that you can come and perform at the Spring Carnival & Parade on Friday 25th February.
 
Mucky Morning
Thursday 24th February, 10am – 12pm, Greenside Community Centre, for ages 0 – 5, Free
A drop-in workshop which will provide a chance for 0 – 5 year olds to get mucky and have fun with different arts & crafts activities such as painting and making salt-dough sculptures!
 
Spring Carnival & Parade
Friday 25th February, 2.30 – 5.30pm, Greenside Community Centre, Free for all ages
Make your masks, hats and instruments for the Church Street Spring Carnival, learn to dance and make music Carnival-style at Greenside Community Centre! Once you’re ready we’ll be parading down Church Street at 5pm.
