FreqOUT! presents ‘Interactivity’

‘Interactivity’ is a creative project starting in January 2010 that will bring local history, digital film, photography and sound together.

The project will use:

  • HTC mobile technologies
  • Google Maps
  • Photoshop
  • i-Movie
  • Final Cut Pro
  • Audacity
  • and the archive collections at Westminster City Archives

to develop a series of ‘digital history walks’ across Westminster, interactive media-scapes, composed of sounds, images and video placed outside.

The new project offers three ways to get involved:

1) ‘Interactivity Mobile Media Course’ for 19/20 year old Westminster residents.  This project will run on Mondays at the Queens Park New Media Centre from mid January through to end of February 2010.  Participants will learn how to make short films, use mobile mapping software and build audio narratives of the local area.

2) ‘Interactivity Work Experience Placements’ for 19/20 year old Westminster residents.  There are a limited number of work experience placements to support ‘Interactivity’ community projects.  These placements will enable young people to work with older members of the community to teach them how to use technologies and research the history of their local areas.  These placements are offered across Queens Park, Harrow Road, Church Street and Pimlico.

3) ‘Interactivity Community Arts Project’ for older Westminster residents.  This project will focus on the history of Church Street, Harrow Road and Churchill Gardens wards by unearthing hidden histories, using creative technologies to tell stories.  This project will take place at Firststep.com @ The Greenside Community Centre, Fridays from mid January through to end of February 2010.

An exciting showcase event and exhibition will conclude the project in March 2010.
