Hilton and Vital Regeneration give Westminster estates a makeover
Hilton Hotels sent an army of their staff to do something far removed from their day jobs this month. Thanks to an initiative organised by Vital Regeneration, and hosted by CityWest Homes, 25 Hilton employees carried out garden clearing work on a housing estate in one of London's most deprived neighbourhoods.
Emma Rembalski, Vital Regeneration’s Corporate Partnerships Manager said;“We are delighted to be working with Hilton on this estate clean up. It’s a really fantastic example of Corporate Social Responsibility in action and we thank their staff for taking time out to support a great cause”.
Hilton employees were flown into London from across the globe for a four day conference. As part of the conference, 25 volunteers generously gave up their time, energy and enthusiasm for an afternoon of work on Westminster’s Church Street Estates.
Hilton's Simon Sheehan, commented, “It was a fantastic afternoon, and the team thoroughly enjoyed the experience. To be able to give something back and to help the residents in such a practical way was very rewarding, especially when we saw the finished gardens and the mountain of rubbish and debris cleared!”
Two residents’ gardens and a children's playground were earmarked by a local Residents Association for a revamp. The Hilton team cleared the gardens and gave them a ‘Ground force’ style makeover. They also sanded and varnished the benches and children's sandpit in the playground, ready for plentiful use in the spring.
Nick Richards, Head of CityWest Direct Central said "Despite extremely cold conditions, the team did a fantastic job - what a transformation! Their hard work has given the place a lovely spring clean, which local residents can really enjoy.”
