Housing Employer Engagement

Vital Regeneration launched the Westminster Housing Employment Forum, (WHEF) on the 16th of February.  This event followed on from the National Apprenticeship Week and was the initiative of the charity’s Housing Employability Project which aimed to promote apprenticeships and secure a range of career opportunities for Westminster residents.

The seminar was generously hosted by Ernst and Young at their Riverside Head Quarters in London Bridge and drew together over 60 employers from within the housing sector and the supply chain.

Guest speakers included representatives from City of Westminster College, Westminster Kingsway College, the National Housing Federation, City West Homes and the National Apprenticeship Service who were at hand to answer questions and offer information and advice to employers about apprenticeships.

There was positive feedback from guests who attended the event:

‘I found it [the seminar] very beneficial and informative.  It answered a lot of the questions I had about apprenticeships.’

The network will continue to work alongside the Housing Employability Project and its  Advisory Group to identify new opportunities for young people.

Employers interested in offering opportunities or finding out more about the Forum should contact Joyce Githu on: jgithu@vitalregen.org.

Vital Regeneration is a creative regeneration charity working in some of London’s poorest communities to create opportunities and change lives through learning, employability and enterprise programmes.

Vital Regeneration would like to acknowledge the support of Westminster City Council and Ernst and Young in supporting this event.
