BNP Paribas with Vital Regeneration and Westminster Education Business Partnership wanted to give young people from Westminster and surrounding boroughs an introduction to the financial industry; giving insight into what it means to be a banker, what investment banking is and how to get into a career in banking.  The day also offered some insight into the ‘corporate’ world and highlighted other job roles that exist as support functions to business activities.

The interactive day drew students from schools in Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham.  BNP Paribas employees took part in round table discussions with the students and shared their experiences on their day to day jobs, what education paths to take and what kind of employee the banking industry is looking for.

Presentations were also delivered by Human Resource on the role of banks.  They offered interview skills and a
networking lunch with staff from other support functions such as Marketing, Fitness Centre and Restaurants.  To finish off the day, the students were given a tour of the trading floor by graduates.
 
There was a positive vibe amongst the young people attending:
‘ I can now consider banking as a possible career’ and ‘ The best part was the trading floor and seeing what the bankers are doing.’
