Learning Store offers Literacy Breakthrough

Many people face the challenge of needing to improve their literacy skills and Vital Regeneration’s HELP Project has teamed up with The Learning Store in North Westminster (W10) to support people in overcoming the barriers.

Using the Callan Method, tutors work closely with HELP clients who find that they acquire literacy skills much more quickly than through other established methods.

HELP has been able to offer its clients this service, thanks to investment from Westminster City Council’s Housing Partnerships team.

People enjoy working closely with tutors in the informal and welcoming environment of The Learning Store.

HELP Project Manager, Judith McKee, said, “Students find that they progress more quickly than with English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and if they are interested, can progress to take a GCSE equivalent qualification.  Some don’t wish to study for a qualification but want to learn to speak English rapidly, often to help their children with schoolwork or discuss their progress with teachers.  Our partnership with The Learning Store is creating an ideal opportunity for some of HELP’s clients.”
