Top of the Class!

Juan was referred to the HELP Project in May 2009 and his main aspiration was to do an Interior Design Course.  Juan is originally from Spain where he worked previously a carpenter and has lived in the UK for 3 years.  With the support of the HELP Advisor he chose to study an Interior Design Level 2 Diploma at Kensington and Chelsea College.

Juan went for an interview and they recommended he should do the National Certificate in Interior and Spatial Design Level 3 Course instead which he started in September 2009 for 1 year.  He studied this course three days a week alongside committing to his full-time job as a cleaner of 45 hours per week.  Juan completed the course this summer and was one of the highest achievers in his class; here he is photographed at his end of year exhibition.

He is now going on to study the BTEC Higher National Certificate in Interior and Architecture Level 4 starting in September 2010.

Juan’s wife, Marcella who also joined the HELP Project in 2009 to improve her English skills was referred to study at the Learning Store, in Queen’s Park, she has since returned to HELP in July 2010 after having their first child and continuing her English studies.
