Vital Regeneration and Microsoft Training Day
Vital Regeneration, a charity working to transform some of London’s most deprived neighbourhoods, has taken learning and opportunities out to the community through a one day employability workshop.
The interactive day, delivered in partnership with Microsoft, drew in young people from across Westminster. A range of Microsoft employees from senior managers to interns shared their experience and worked with the attendees on areas including CV and interview skills, confidence building and effective communication.
Dr Imran Alvi, Director of Employability at Vital said, “To do the best we can for young people we need to utilise all the resources available to us. This includes the private sector. It is our job to ensure we channel these resources to the young people that can really benefit from them.”
The event was attended by Pam Chester, The Mayors Advisor, who interacted with the young people, staff and volunteers. “Insert quote from Pam’s office”
There was a positive vibe amongst the young people attending:
‘I liked the way everything [at the training session] was explained in a step by step manner. It gave me the confidence that I could apply for a job even though I was not the best candidate around.’
