Vivendi help Vital Regeneration to 'Create Joy'

Vital Regeneration is celebrating securing a generous sponsorship award from Vivendi, a world leader in communications and entertainment.

The sponsorship will enable Vital Regeneration’s FreqOUT! programme to lead the 2010 ‘Vivendi Youth Media Artist’ programme throughout 2010.  During which time 175 young people from disadvantaged London neighbourhoods will produce their own high quality films, sound scapes, interactive media-scapes, as well as have the opportunity to take part in a high profile London showcase at the end of the year.

Diane Emdin, Vivendi's Create Joy Fund UK co-ordinator said,
Vivendi’s Create Joy programme is very proud to support FreqOUT!  The program totally fits the Create Joy criteria; dedicated to youth, helping them use innovation and technology to get a different insight into their world, giving them an opportunity to express their creativity and learn from others in an artistic environment.  We strongly believe that FreqOUT! will Create Joy!”

Since 2008, Vivendi has been developing its corporate social responsibility program, Create Joy, whose mission is to help disadvantaged young people achieve their full potential through Vivendi’s industries: entertainment and communications.  The Vivendi Create Joy Fund supports projects implemented by associations and Non Governmental Organisations in the United States, Europe (in France and the UK) and Africa.  The Vivendi sponsored projects at Vital Regeneration will help young people from socially excluded communities ‘find a voice’ through emergent media, breaking down barriers they encounter to work, learning and enterprise.  The programme will comprise a range of options including tasters, 10-week learning programmes and after-school digital workshops.  Working in this way, Vital Regeneration hope to excite and inspire local young people through access to free software, technologies and leading industry specialists.  The ‘Vivendi Youth Media Artists’ will gain experience in a range of professional creative settings such as leading London galleries, production houses and recording studios.

Jenny Irish, FreqOUT! Project Manager commented,
“We are absolutely delighted to be awarded sponsorship by a leading global communications and entertainment business such as Vivendi.  Vivendi’s innovative support means we can be much more experimental in our approach to tackling the digital divide faced by many excluded individuals and communities, in London’s most challenging neighbourhoods.”
