Westminster Works places volunteers at the Church Street Pet Society

Westminster Works has recently supported the start up of a new venture on Church Street called the Pet Society.

Pet Society is one way the Church Street community is responding to the government’s ‘Big Society’ initiative.  Over 20 local residents volunteer their time to work in Pet Society – in total around 80 volunteers hours are given each week! The range of volunteers are as diverse as the Church Street population itself.  They are enjoying helping their local community whilst improving their skill set, as many are looking for paid work.  The volunteers have received retail training from Westminster Adult Education Service and employment support from Westminster Works.

Westminster Works provides practical support to local residents through Work Clubs in CV writing, Interview skills, Application Forms, Covering Letters and weekly job search clubs.  In addition Westminster Works helps provide access to local jobs and volunteering opportunities.
