Young People speak up about youth employment
On the 24th and 25th of June Re-Evolve ran a debate workshop for young people on the Prince’s Trust Team Programme at Padding Arts Centre. The workshop helped provide the young people with the confidence and the skills to express their views on the issues that are important to them.
Re-Evolve volunteers facilitated the session, first by giving a presentation about the project and then by challenging the young people to express their opinions on issues surrounding youth unemployment and education. In the afternoon the participants received debate training from a professional public speaker from Speakers Bank, providing them with vital communication skills that could aid them in future job interviews.
The workshop allowed those involved to voice their views and concerns about unemployment and the issues surrounding it. Though some topics discussed elicited strong responses and led to lively debate, the workshop was informal and even entertaining. This relaxed atmosphere allowed the young people to learn new skills and techniques which will help them in different aspects of their lives whether it's presenting their experience and abilities in an interview or getting your points across in an arguement with a friend.
