Q. How do I find out about recycling in my part of Westminster?

A.  Ways to recycle in Westminster vary, depending on where you live.  Council information about how to recycle in your area is here http://www.westminster.gov.uk/ then click on Recycling at home.

Q. What kind of volunteers do you need?

A.  We’re looking for people of any age and background from the local community or people who want to work as interns to get experience of environmental projects

Q. Do I need experience to be a Community Green Champion?

A.  You don’t need to have experience or previous knowledge, as long as you believe that recycling is important.  If you’re friendly, approachable and willing to share your enthusiasm with others, you could become a Community Green Champion (formerly known as Recycling Champions).

Q. How do I become a Community Green Champion?

A.  If you would like to become a Community Green Champion, it’s easy, just call 020 7245 2867 or e-mail Marie.

Q. What kind of activities would I be involved in, as a Community Green Champion?

A.  You’d be involved in promoting recycling on estates in the Church Street and Queen’s Park areas.  Activities would involve:

  • supporting the Sustainability Programme Manager in promotional and educational activities
  • trying out and evaluating new approaches to recycling on estates to find out what works
  • organising and supporting a programme of activities for local residents
  • assisting in the design and distribution of literature that is easy for everyone to understand
