About Schools and Clus

In some of the neighbourhoods where we work, more than 50% of children live in overcrowded accommodation.  Homework Clubs provide appropriate, stimulating spaces for children to learn, keep up with their school work and get help from experienced, friendly tutors.

Our tutors work individually with each child, helping to meet their educational needs.  They also provide structured numeracy and literacy based lessons for children without homework or for those who complete their homework quickly.

By offering families a calm place for their children to study, we hope to alleviate some of the challenges of living in a densely populated area.  Our Homework Clubs currently run in two locations across Westminster: Queens Park New Media Centre and The Greenside Community Centre.  Homework Clubs run throughout the school terms and each course lasts for 10 weeks.

Active Graphics is an innovative club focusing on helping children to explore creative media, fashion and textiles.  Each term’s theme is based around healthy eating lifestyles or the environment.  The club is funded by Timberland Boot Company.  During the first part of each term young club members visit the flagship Timberland store in Regent Street.  They learn about the ethos behind Timberland Boot Company, the importance of recycling and the different aspects of the design process.  Towards the end of each 10 week programme the children take their work to the Timberland store where they present it to the staff.  This work is then displayed in store for one month.
